Domaine du Pech
Domaine du Pech, located in the Buzet appellation of Lot-et-Garonne, was founded in 1978 by Daniel Tissot and is now run by Magali Tissot and Ludovic Bonnelle. The 22-hectare estate, with 13 hectares of vines, has been farmed biodynamically since 2004. The vineyard features clay-gravel soils, and their varietals—Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Sauvignon Blanc—are carefully matched to the terrain. No tilling is practiced, with sheep grazing during winter and hedges planted around the vines.
Yields are kept low at around 15 hl/ha, with hand harvesting and natural fermentation using native yeasts. Their wines undergo lengthy aging—up to 14 years in some cases—without filtration or sulfites, resulting in highly concentrated, terroir-driven wines that are among the finest in the region.
