This was one of Alexander Brink's first wines. The grapes come from the enchanting Widderbock Vineyard, which he initially intended to uproot until he crafted this exceptional wine from the land. Planted in 1978, these old Müller-Thurgau vines yield slowly. The 2020 vintage comes with a nose that starts with raspberry’s and some hints of tropical fruits.
Over time this will change towards ripe stone fruits. 2020 was a very hot year, which resulted in less acidity and an overall smooth and full bodied wine. In the mouth you will get quince accompanied by dried fruits and orange blossom. All that made round by some spiciness provided by the fermentation with stems. The wine fermented and ripened in old barriques and has an astonishing amber color. It also has some grip to it due to the maceration, this makes it pretty much an overall good food companion too. Or if your into that kind of thing, try pairing it with a cigar.
