Clos Bateau

Clos Bateau

Sylvie and Thierry's journey began in 2019 when they moved to their charming domaine in Lantignié, Beaujolais, France. Nestled within 8 hectares of land, their 5.1-hectare vineyard thrives as a haven of biodiversity. They planted over 100 fruit and nut trees in 2019 and continue to add more each year, fostering a vibrant ecosystem. Embracing nature, they use plant-based tea infusions and lunar cycles to nurture their vines. Sheep and kunekune pigs roam the meadow, helping maintain the vineyard and enriching the soil.

Committed to natural winemaking, they use indigenous yeasts and spontaneous fermentation with minimal intervention to create their lively Vins Vivants. Their vineyards, featuring Gamay noir à jus blanc and Chardonnay grapes, include both thriving and wild, untamed vines. Despite the low yield, these wild vines produce exceptional grapes.

Their lieux-dits include 'Les Monthieux,' 'Croix Pennet,' and 'Montmerand,' with vines averaging 60 years old. The land's unique soil and high vine density add to the charm and quality of their wines.
