Barranco Oscuro

Barranco Oscuro

Built in the late 19th century, Cortijo Barranco Oscuro had a large wine cellar but faced setbacks due to the phylloxera pest. In 1979, Manuel Valenzuela bought part of the estate, located 1300 meters above sea level in the Sierra Nevada, benefiting from the unique weather conditions at this altitude.

They revived the vineyard, initially buying grapes and later planting their own, and by the mid-1980s, introduced new grape varieties.

In 1984, they released their first bottled wine, marking them as pioneers of natural winemaking in the region.
